Best in Show - Carla May with Vallhund Dixie.

Results from this year’s Companion Dog Show have been received from organiser Ann Adams of Hassan Pet Food Supplies. “We had 135 entries for the competition and raised £455 for the Sophie Munro Trust Fund,” said Ann. “It will be spent on specialist equipment for Sophie which she needs.” Best in Show prize went to Carla May with her Swedish Vallhund ‘Dixie’ (see picture). Prize for Reserve Best in Show went to Sandra Nelson with her whippet ‘Humphrey’. Other categories in the show included Best Cross Breed, Dog with the Waggiest Tail, Dog the Judge would Like to Take Home, Best Puppy, Any Dog Not to Have Won a Rosette, Best Non-Sporting Dog, Best Veteran, Best Rescue Dog, Most Handsome Dog, Best Junior Handler and … Prettiest Bitch
  Ann was keen to say a special thank-you to all the local traders who have supported the show, including Bookman’s Halt, Karina’s Wool Shop, Woods Newsagents, Munday’s Newsagents, Bohemia Lighting Centre, Café 67, GL Sanctuary, Frydays and Waves Hairdressers.
  The YMCA kindly provided the venue. Also thanked were White House Farm, Ray & Barbara who traveled from Southend, Mr & Mrs Richards, Margaret and Richard Fisher, Mary Mitchell, Mary Houseman and Edna Relfe. “Without the help of all these people, we couldn’t have had a show,” said Ann.
